What we collect

Almost nothing. There are no accounts. We do not ask for personal information to read the site.

• Email address, only if you type one into the updates form or the contact form. It is stored so we can reply or send updates, and nothing else.
• Contact messages, if you send one.
• Server logs, kept briefly for security and debugging.
• Affiliate clicks, counted per link slot with no personal identifier attached.

What stays in your browser

Your saved pages (★), your theme choice, your language and your guided-or-expert preference are stored in your own browser's local storage. They are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears them.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie to remember your chosen language, and an editor session cookie for staff. Advertising, when it is switched on, is served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where permitted. You can control this through Google's Ads Settings and, where required, through the consent notice shown on the site.

Third parties

Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap, which will see your IP address as part of serving them. Outbound links, including affiliate links, take you to third parties with their own policies.

Ask us to delete your email address or your message at any time through the contact page and we will.
